Charming, bittersweet, and amusing do not begin to tell what a heart-warming novel The Flamingo Rising really is. Simply said, it is the story of a young boy growing up in Florida in the 1960s. The novel centers around the drive-in theater his family owns, and all of the characters that are in his life. And I mean characters! If you are looking for an excellent nostalgic read, this is for you.
